Maciej is one of the most talented and versatile cinematographers of his generation, with a portfolio that spans feature films—including large-scale historical productions—television series, documentaries, and television theater.<\/p>\n
Born in Pozna\u0144 in 1979, he graduated in Exhibition and Design, Multimedia Communication, and Photography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Pozna\u0144, and later from the Cinematography Department of the \u0141ód\u017a Film School.<\/p>\n
He began his career as a camera operator, collaborating with leading Polish directors and cinematographers on acclaimed films such as Ró\u017ca (2011), Sala samobójców (2011), Skrzydlate \u015awinie (2010), and Wojna polsko-ruska (2009). As a cinematographer, his credits include five seasons of the TV series Wojenne dziewczyny, the crime series S\u0142ugi wojny, and the historical series Moth Hunting (Polowanie na \u0107my) directed by Micha\u0142 Rogalski, as well as romantic comedies such as Dawid i Elfy, Mi\u0142o\u015b\u0107 jest wszystkim, Mi\u0142o\u015b\u0107 bez granic, and To musi by\u0107 mi\u0142o\u015b\u0107, alongside thrillers and action films.<\/p>\n
Maciej has worked closely with one of Poland’s most renowned directors, W\u0142adys\u0142aw Pasikowski, shooting Pitbull. Ostatni pies and Psy 3. W imi\u0119 zasad, starring Bogus\u0142aw Linda, Cezary Pazura, and Marcin Doroci\u0144ski. He has also contributed to big-budget historical productions, bringing a distinct visual sensitivity that enriches historical storytelling. His work on Moth Hunting (Polowanie na \u0107my) earned a nomination in the TV Series Competition at the 31st EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival.<\/p>\n
Recent projects include season two of the international thriller Furia, directed by Magnus Martens, Gjermund Eriksen, and Micha\u0142 Rogalski, and the action-war series Bay of Spies (Zatoka szpiegów), which follows the story of Franz Neumann, a young Abwehr officer who discovers his Polish origins and becomes an Allied spy.<\/p>\n
In autumn 2025 two productions with Maciej's cinematography had premiere: second season of tv series Minuta Ciszy (Canal+) and the spy thriller Zamach na papie\u017ca (Assassination of the Pope), directed by W\u0142adys\u0142aw Pasikowski. Inspired by the real events surrounding the 1981 assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II, the film seeks to uncover the hidden history behind one of the most mysterious secret service operations of the 20th century. Maciej has been nominated for his cinematography on this film at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.<\/p>\n
Recently Maciej was nominated for his work on two tv series: Minuta ciszy and Bay of Spies (Zatoka szpiegów – along with cinematographer Kacper Zieli\u0144ski) to BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon in category The Best Cinematography.<\/p>\n
